"Oh, come on, Selena. Chill. It's just flowers. Someone's trying to be... you know, romantic. Or something. Probably just being extra." I didn’t share her nonchalance. The sheer extravagance of the gesture, the anonymous nature of it, sent a chill down my spine. “But… what if it’s someone… creepy?” Hailey’s shoulders shook, and she leaned back on the couch, a chuckle escaping her lips. “Creepy? With twenty-five roses? Please. Creepy guys send… I don’t know, dead fish or something.” I crossed my arms, my gaze fixed on the roses. “I don’t like this,” I mumbled. “It feels… off.”

Her whisper broke the night: “Why do I feel like I’ve known you before?” Damien’s breath caught, his entire body freezing as hope flared in his chest like wildfire. But before he could answer, the door slammed open. Valentina swept into the room like a storm in heels, her dark gown cutting against the pale moonlight. She slid in front of Valerie, protective, furious. “This ends now.” Her voice dripped venom. “I indulged your obsession because I thought you civilized. But this….” she gestured sharply between them, “....is harassment Emotional cruelty. You will not drag my daughter into your graveyard.”

I'd spent twenty minutes with a push-up bra and some contouring powder to make sure my girls were standing at attention, ready to greet the world, or at least, ready to greet William. It was Valentine's Day! My absolute, total, 100% favorite holiday in the whole galaxy. I just loved the pinks, the reds, the smell of expensive roses, and the way everyone acted like they were in a rom-com. But mostly, I loved the sex. Valentine's Day sex just hit different, like it was seasoned with extra sparkles and desperation. "Oh, you look sugarific!" Lauren squealed, clapping her hands. She was the calm, normal one of our trio, the kind of girl who actually remembered to pay the electric bill.

What she wanted now was to find out what startled them. Selene and her companions barely move from their place, frozen in shock from what they were witnessing. Even when Valentine’s group appeared beside them, they hardly took notice of them. “What in the goddess’ name?” Valentine gaped, realizing why all of them stood there like statues. Just below where they were standing, dozens of human-like figures were piling up and swarming on the plains. A chill ran down her spine when she got a waft of the scent. The creatures were barely noticeable because of their earthen like smell, which was a mix of soil and dried grass, yet underneath those she caught a stench of rot and decay.

To get rid of our pup and date with his assistant on Valentine's Day, my mate Marcus forced our injured pup to go rock climbing and poisoned him. When I rushed my dying pup to the hospital, I unexpectedly saw my mate accompanying his assistant for a prenatal checkup. Our terrified pup lay convulsing from the poison, but Marcus didn’t even care about him. "He's just an Omega. If he was a proper wolf, he'd heal instantly!" I clutched the $100 million Moonlight Blessing herb in my pocket. I accidentally found it in the forest this morning.

The lie would start falling apart. So I walked to the café three blocks from campus. It wasn’t a pack place, just a cozy little fusion café with warm lights, polished wooden tables, and the best hot chocolate I’d ever tasted. They served everyone there — shifters and vampires. I knew Valentine's day was a big deal especially among shifters, but I didn't expect this small non-pack café was packed too. A playlist of slow songs I didn't recognize playing through the ceiling speakers.
