You fucked us over with the apple.” Valen retorted between clenched teeth, getting up from the sheepskin rug to stand. The apple was an aphrodisiac setup.

“Soon, Erica, there won’t be an Alpha standing in my way.” Valentine hummed to himself as he poured himself a wine and I watched him. I then realize the most terrifying truth of all, Valentine was the weed that needs to be taken out or the whole land will be infected with it. Valentine didn’t leave right away, especially when he was enjoying himself. He lingered near the doorway, his fingers brushing the wall. Suddenly, he laughed, quiet at first, then a little louder, like a mad man. “Do you know,” he said, tilting his head, “how easy it is to make people believe the wrong story?”

Desperate to quiet her tears, I whispered, “What can I do for you?” Valerie looked up at me fiercely, red hot tears streaking her soft skin. “The aunts in the slave shops that raised me—they said vampire saliva has the power to bring happiness.” Her gaze found mine, desperate and pleading. “Kiss me.” My bones lunged for her, almost as if they were not tied down by skin and sinewy. But I stilled them and searched her eyes. “You don’t really want that.” She reached for me, her small fingers twisting into the fabric of my shirt. Her gaze held a fiery torment—a desperate, drowning want. “Please,” she said.

The black cobwebbed lines from Valerick had extended to him, draining away his soul, offering him a painful death. Soon enough, the prey was tossed aside. In a blink of an eye, the creep was in front of us and in a heartbeat, she grabbed the file from Valentina's weak grasp and tossed it away. “What do you think you are doing?" Valentina sounded pissed but the creep doesn't focus on her, she looks at me.
