The TV in the corner was flashing headlines that made him turn more serious with each word. “BREAKING NEWS: Nicholas Amaro arrested in connection with arson, fraud, and organized crime.” The news anchor’s voice rang out like a siren in the room. Photos of Nicholas being led into a police car with his hands cuffed behind him filled the screen as cameras flashed and reporters shouted. Victor didn’t blink. He just leaned back slowly, taking a deep breath. He knew this day would come. But now that it had, he wasn’t shocked, but just calculating.

So, he deliberately left out the crucial detail that the organization was holding me hostage. This selfish bastard did not care if anyone else lived or died. When the police arrived, the criminals lost nearly half their people and resources before barely escaping with me as their hostage. Naturally, they took all their rage out on me. They tortured me for three days and nights straight. When they finally got bored, they ended my life with one cut and tossed my body on the mountain to feed the wolves.
