I opened my eyes.
I knew what he was seeing. My hazel eyes were gone. In their place was a blinding, ethereal glow—a bright, pulsing red that lit up the darkened kitchen. It wasn't the yellow of a Beta or the red of a normal Alpha. It was the color of a bleeding moon, ancient and terrifying.
Cassian gasped. He didn't pull away, but I saw his pupils dilate.
"Damn," he breathed.
I let the glow fade, the light receding until my normal hazel eyes returned. I felt a bit dizzy, the drain of the power making my knees weak. Cassian reached out then, catching my elbows to steady me.
