He needed him to get the new girl's mobile number and see how it went from there. He soon got there and he pulled in front of the house. It was a white and brown small house that sat at the end of a lone street. Darren's family wasn’t exactly the poor family they portray, but they weren’t as rich either. He turned the key in his ignition and then he opened the door before turning to his brother. “Roll down the window and stay right here. I will be back soon.” He told him.

The rising sun blinded me, and I had to cover my eyes from the light, but as my eyes adjusted to the brightness, my heart stopped. Blood. The ground was painted in a raw-red color that sometimes blended with strokes of dark ashes and black charcoal. Dead bodies of young and old wolves gutted, cut, and ripped to pieces covered every inch of the ground. The four men who carried my cage walked, stomping on the torn flesh of their enemies—the wolves of Crimson Mountain Pack.

I didn't look in his direction until the car disappeared through a very grassy and eerie area. I've never been through this path before. “Where are we going?” I asked, looking at him. “Crimson Hills.” Crimson Hills Pack, Vince's Pack. “Okay, but what route is this? I've never been this way before.” I interrogated further. “The main roads are blocked. The highways are blocked. We can't take the woods either, except you're up for a run?” He tilted a brow. I didn't answer that. He didn't wait for an answer either. He just continued.

In fact, he jumps down first and extends his arm to assist. The first thing I do is touch the road, which is just as smooth as it looks. Up close, the surface appears nearly clear, with small crystals below the smooth surface jutting in every direction, reflecting the colorful light. The flowers, as it turns out, are also crystals, but these have solid colors baked into their structures and are much larger. There is every imaginable shade of blue, red, yellow, and every combination of the mixed hues they create. They line the road neatly, like a crystal hedge that goes on for miles and disappears into the mountains.

“No.” “You misunderstand, Natalie. Only a Crimson blood can give rise to a Crimson Wolf. If these rogues are truly Crimsons, then their existence suggests one disturbing possibility.” I frowned. “What possibility?” “The only crimson wolves that currently exist is the Alpha of the FireHeart pack, who is missing and even presumed dead. That should be the end of the crimson bloodline for there is no more birthing of such powerful creatures. It’s understandable if the FireHeart pack could be the culprit. But then, where did they get a crimson wolf to even begin the experiment?”
