I dragged my feet toward the only building that stood out in the quiet street—a two-story café with sun aged wood and bold red trim, the sign swaying slightly in the breeze.

The lime green 1980 Ford Pinto station wagon groaned as it crested a hill, its chassis rattling like a box of loose nails. The engine emitted a rhythmic, sickly wheeze, but somehow, the metal beast surged forward, cutting through the absolute dark of a road that didn't appear on any GPS. To the human eye, it was a deer trail; to those with the sight, it was a shimmering, emerald-black ribbon of half-realized asphalt.

At the bottom of the path sat an old-style 1960s car, coated in a dark grey paint. "We're driving?" Waverly asked, trying to mask her surprise. "You thought we were walking to Trinity Mountains?" he rebuked, with a hint of annoyance. "I mean, no…I assumed we'd run." The Crimson Wolf pulled a set of car keys out of the pocket of his cuffed denim blue jeans and slid his finger through the key ring that held the symbol of the Crimson Shadow to his starter. "Nope." He walked ahead of Waverly and opened the door for her. Waverly stopped abruptly, not expecting him to pull such a gesture. The Crimson Wolf stood still; his tall frame enhanced by the morning sun.

These animals live together in harmony, one which humans can never reacreate or experience. Mark tried to pick up Blake's scent but it became weaker and weaker, covered up by the strong scent of blood. He ran to the very edge of the forest near the highway so he could pick up Blake's Scent when he came upon a car crash site, his heart constricted in pain when he suddenly picked up Blake's scent again, which was even stronger and he ran closer and looked at the car, he sighed in relief when he saw that it was not Blake's car, he could still pick up Blake's scent from farther ahead.
