With Maddie’s consent, we met Tiffany once more through the prison security glass.
Her long hair had been cut short, and her sharp edges softened. The moment she saw Maddie, she threw herself against the glass, excitedly yet in anguish.
Maddie recoiled in fright, inadvertently stabbing Tiffany’s heart.
Pressed against the glass, Tiffany pleaded desperately, “Maddie, it’s Mommy. I was wrong. Please don’t blame me, okay?”
Seeing her vulnerable mother, my kindhearted daughter’s eyes welled up with tears. She reached out to comfort her.
