Larry and Jake clasped their hands together in exaggerated begging poses.
“Come on, boss,” Larry said, batting his lashes at Iris. “Let Abi stay tonight. Just one night.”
“Please,” Jake added, putting on his most pitiful voice. “We promise we’ll supervise.”
Abi joined in, eyes wide, lips puckered in her own version of puppy-dog eyes.
Iris pinched the bridge of her nose. “God help me.”
“Yes! Victory!” Abi squealed, high-fiving Larry. Jake only smirked, satisfied to see her happy.
