“I missed you too, sweetheart,” He kissed her on the forehead, the familiar warmth of her skin almost undoing him completely. Tessa grabbed his hand, tugging at it with excitement. “Come look! I made something.” Kris let her pull him across the room, each step feeling like a lead weight. She led him to the floor where a pencil drawing lay on a sheet of paper. Kris sat down beside her, feeling numb as he looked at the drawing. It was simple—just three stick people. A man, a woman, and a little girl in between them holding both of their hands.

Mercedes' POV “Can I see?” I asked Carter who shrieked and hud his paper behind his back. “Carter what's wrong? You've been drawing for hours, can I see?” I asked again but the little boy shook his head. “Why not?” I inquired. “I'm not yet done,” he replied. “Carter never shows me his drawings and he laughs at mine.” Penelope pouted as she rose her paper and showed me her drawing. There were four stickmen, two bigger ones on either side while two smaller ones stood in the middle smiling as they held their hands together.

I beckoned the hatchling to come to me and sat beside me as the waters from the sea made me smile. I saw it slow down and decided to just scoop it in my hand and put it in the very shallow hole in the sand that I made between my legs. The waves crashed into us and I brought a handful of water to the baby turtle’s little hole. It lifted its head and yawned. I giggled. “Let’s wait for your mommy, baby turt,” I said as I stroked its little head with my finger. “You’re a lucky one, dearest.” I continued and it just looked at me as if it understands me. “You have a mom that patiently waits for you.”

Teddy held up his paper with a sketch of a purple dinosaur with a horn on its head. Sophie gasped. "A unicorn dinosaur? Teddy, you've changed the world." Yeah, I can't. I love kids but there's only so much I can do. Lily frustrates the hell out of me every single day but she knows just how much fun I can take. She doesn't even sketch. Lily giggled and poked the Unicorn dinosaur sketch, earning a laugh from said Teddy. Another kid with a missing front tooth shoved a drawing into Lily's hands. "This is for you. It's a house, with a cat. Do you like cats?"

Harley says, wiping his tears. "It's okay, bubba." I say, kissing his head and smoothing his hair down. He opens the piece of paper and smiles when he sees a drawing of two stick figures, one being small and one being big, the small one being Kai and the big one being Vixen. There's a heart in the middle and it's colored in and outside the lines and- awww, she wrote her name at the bottom. "It's beautiful, baby. Thank you." Vixen says, kissing her cheek.

She walked up to them and laughed out; they looked as if they were made by some kid. There were many such drawings carefully framed and decorated on the wall; there were drawings of mountains, houses, something that looked like elephant, flowers and apple. Bee was a brilliant artist and couldn't stop herself from criticizing them. She said to herself, "These are so childish, why would he keep them framed?"

It was one of the Four Congenial Beasts, the Giant Turtle. Darryl noticed that the Giant Turtle looked like the Black Tortoise of the Four Great Godly Beast, but the difference was that the Giant Turtle had a huge dragon head instead. Its back seemed to be the tail of a kylin. Its entire body glowed with maroon flames. It was a terrifying sight to behold. "Dude!" Just as Darryl was still stunned, the Giant Turtle locked its eyes on him and said arrogantly, "Give me your powers. Give me all of them. That would be the greatest honor for you."

He accepted things so easily, with the quiet understanding that came naturally to children. Juliette, however, wasn’t quite ready to let him go back to colouring just yet. "What are you drawing, Cade?" she asked, leaning closer to get a look at his creation. Cade glanced up at her, then down at the colourful, abstract shapes he had been scribbling onto the paper. "A dragon," he said matter-of-factly, though the image looked more like a tangled rainbow. "But he’s invisible, so you can’t see him yet."
