LIORA'S POV Five enormous cruise ships cut through the brilliant, sun-dappled waves of the sea, all making their approach to the Island of Luck. Four are crammed full of commoners. The fifth ship, ours, the Emperor’s Cruise ship that is carrying all the royals towers above all the others in grandeur and elegance. It's the fanciest ship I have seen in my entire short life. It's sleek sides are curved like fins of a great fish, while at the bow, a stunning golden statue of a muscular angel, adorned with a golden crown, is built. The name " Emporer's Raven Wing," adorned with shimmering limestones is curved elegantly along the sides.

Midnight over Gloomwater Bay At precisely midnight, the sky above Gloomwater Bay was a churning cauldron of black clouds and violent coastal gales. Three royal stealth gunships hovered silently three thousand feet above the dark, churning ocean. He handed it to me. “Take a look.” Curious, I opened it. My eyes widened almost immediately. The photographs were stunning. Crystal-blue water stretched endlessly beneath clear skies. White beaches looked almost too beautiful to be real. The ship itself appeared across several pages, shining beneath the sunlight like something out of a movie. At the top, written in elegant gold lettering, was its name. Ocean Majesty. I stared at it. Even I had heard of this ship. The Ocean Majesty had been making headlines for months. Every article described it as the newest luxury cruise liner in the world and one of the most expensive ever built.

I said to myself, “No matter what challenges lay ahead, I know that I will always have them by my side.” One sad night, I whispered to myself. “I miss you father. I miss going to that coffee shop on Main Street with you every Saturday morning.” I spotted a shooting star in the distance and began to sob, thinking, “I really wish that you were here to see this star with me, father.” “The Crimson Tide is a really reliable and well-maintained ship. It's known for its efficiency and expertise in delivering marine equipment worldwide,” Captain James had told me when I'd asked him about the ship. “The vessel has completed several successful deliveries before it set sail on its latest mission.

I gazed up to the thousands of demons peering over the ledge hundreds of metres above me, and knew some of them would, in fact, break their legs. Sam grabbed my arm and led me over to the ships, now much bigger than they looked before from above. Enormous monsters, flags as big as houses and detailed wooden statues at the front of them, meaning to intimidate the enemy. These were war ships, looking cold and deadly and subtly showing off the wealth of each kingdom.

"Notify everyone. Expand the ranch. I'll tame more defensive sea beasts." Captain White nodded and left. I stood at the entrance of my shelter and looked out at the calm sea. The undercurrents had already begun to move. Over the next few days, I took people out to search for defensive creatures that could be tamed. In a reef area, I found ironclad crabs. Their shells were as hard as metal. They could reinforce hulls and gnaw through the bottoms of enemy ships. I tamed more than a hundred and had them attach to the undersides of ships around Shallow Bay's perimeter.

We were horribly outnumbered. "He is bringing the dreadnoughts too," Kaelen added grimly. He pointed a shaking finger toward the center of the golden line. Massive, towering silhouettes were beginning to materialize through the ocean mist. They were Aurelian siege ships, coated entirely in heavy gold plating. They moved slowly, crushing the thick ice floes beneath their massive reinforced hulls.

The ship was no longer a machine; it was a gargantuan, sleeping animal. ​“Mama, the ship is dreaming,” Liam said softly, his voice sounding hollow from exhaustion. He was pale, his gold light dim but steady, his eyes wide as he looked at a cluster of flowers that had sprouted from a secondary cooling vent. The blooms looked like spun glass, but they smelled like jasmine, crushed pine, and the specific scent of rain on hot pavement. “It doesn't want to be a weapon anymore. It wants to be a cradle.”

Then the coalition vessel appears. It emerges slowly from the darkness beyond the planet. Up close the organic ship is even more impressive. Its surface pulses with soft light. Massive structures extend outward like wings made of living crystal. Matteo leans closer. “That thing is beautiful.” Severiel nods slightly. “Yes.” Ezra remains focused. “Can it defend itself.” The Custodian answers. Coalition vessels possess significant defensive capabilities. Matteo smiles faintly. “Good.” But the scout does not slow down.
