I hadn’t been mistaken: it was a four-winged golden dragon. In the era before Ragnarök, four wings marked it as a rare and superior breed, but golden dragons themselves were not uncommon in Asgard. However, as the Aesir’s species gradually changed, only black dragons and skeletal dragons remained here. And with trade across the Nine Realms, a small number of golden dragons were brought in from Vanaheim and Jotunheim as livestock, though keeping them in the wild was strictly forbidden. So this golden dragon was most likely left behind by the Vanir.
