“Yes,” Nathan said. “If it keeps people from dying, I will make any spectacle necessary.”
Damian’s face shifted—something like incredulity, and beneath it, something more dangerous. He reached for the wine, wrapped his fingers around the stem, and squeezed until the glass bit into his palm.
“Fine,” he said at last, voice low and brittle. “Do what you must. But understand this—if one man bleeds because of your defiance, I will not be the one who lets that stand. I will end it. I will end anything that threatens this house.”
