And I never did meet a woman who stood out the way you did.” I looked down, fingers tracing the rim of my glass. “And what about you?” “What about me?” “What did you want, Nolan? Before the weight of a crown and a pack?” He hesitated. I could see it, the flicker of something behind his eyes, the ghost of a younger man he used to be. “I never really had the luxury of wanting,” he said. “From the moment I shifted, everything was duty. The Alpha’s seat was mine before I could even decide what kind of man I wanted to be.”

He tapped the pipe lightly against the toe of his boot. “I’ll ask you again,” Juan said. “Your name?” The man let out a breath and muttered, “Daniel. People call me Danny.” Juan nodded. “Alright, Danny. Let’s talk.” Danny gave a weak smile. “Let me guess. You want to know who sent us.” Juan crouched again, elbows resting on his knees. His voice stayed calm. “No. I want to know why. You don’t plan an attack like that, moving in groups, using silencers, cutting off comms just to steal some random drugs. You were trained. You knew what you were doing.”

“You answer when the boss is talking, roadkill.” “Fucking shit, man! She’s just another bitch to sell.” Domenico froze. I couldn’t see his face, but the men backing up from around him told me it wasn’t a happy expression. “Who wants to become a made man?” Domenico asked. His tone was calm, cool, and deep. He held everyone’s attention, and many of the men dropped down to one knee in front of him. My brow scrunched as the memory of my father doing that to someone flashed in my mind.

"Danny?" "Danny Finn. He's in prison now, Riverbend Correctional. Got twenty years for a bank robbery that went wrong. But before that, he and his sister Caroline worked for your father. Eliminations. Making problems disappear. Your father sent them into a trap, got Caroline killed, got Danny locked up. But Danny knows things. Names. Locations. He might talk if you approach him right, offer him something he needs."

Danny paused for a moment, looking to see if I had anything to say, but all my eyes said was ‘continue’. “The one in the middle? His name is Reynold, he's probably the one with the hottest brain, you know…science class—the other two, Robert and Ronald, they got something upstairs as well, one prefers finance, the other, I guess, prefers the political thing.” He explained, and let out a deep breath, probably hoping I'd be satisfied with that little information—I didn't like gossip but… “The Robert is the political one?” I asked. “Yep, and full of trouble —you want some advice?” Danny stepped closer.

"Yeah, I just transferred from another school." Dany smiled, his face lighting up with excitement. "That's so cool! I'm Dany, by the way. Dany Donovan." I introduced myself, trying to sound confident. "I'm Daciana. Nice to meet you." We chatted for a few minutes, and I learned that Dany was a bit of a geek, obsessed with video games and comic books. He seemed harmless enough, but I couldn't trust him completely. After all, he was a Donovan, and they were the ones I was here to spy on.

Jeffrey smashed the ball his way and it bruised his arm. "Hey!" "Well, what's my big crime now?" He mimicked smugly. Simmering heat crawled up Ricky's face. "That's foul play! And as for hurting the referee, you LOSE!" He yelled and stormed over to the fridge. Arian chuckled because he automatically won. Jeffrey scowled at him. "Anyway, Danny wasn't in school today. So I checked with the coach and he said something about him being transfered?" Ricky returned and positioned himself on a couch with Tommy. He took off his shirt and placed an ice bag on a bruise that wasn't even visible.

“What a way to kick off a war.” Connor joined them moments later, cautiously navigating the rubble as he scanned the scene with narrowed eyes. His voice was low and contemplative. “This goes beyond just territory. Ricci isn’t merely trying to take control. He’s severing your strength before you can retaliate.” Taking a slow breath, Adrian was already plotting his next moves. He had anticipated some form of retaliation—Dante’s death had left a void that many sought to exploit—but Ricci’s approach was brazen, even reckless. Unlike Dante, who had played the long game, Ricci’s actions were loud. His actions screamed audacity and overconfidence.
