FLINN IS BUYING. Rick chuckled. If Nathan Flinn - VP of one of New York's biggest investment firms and notoriously tight with his money - was buying drinks, then something major was happening. *Give me 30,* he texted back. His eyes were the color of rust, the pupils too large, like he hadn't slept in days. "For ourselves. For the people who got crushed under them. The ones who disappeared. The ones who ended up in the river." He gestured to the papers. "We kept records. Names. Dates. Places. Everything they thought they buried." Alex picked up one of the photographs. It was old, the edges soft, the colors faded. A man, young, his arm around a woman who was laughing at something off camera. He didn't recognize the faces.

I gasp when his middle finger twitches beneath me. Yes. I think, but Danny is still talking and I can't seem to think clearly. "I can't..." I don't know what I was intending to say, but he takes it as a no. His offending hand returns to my waist, leaving me cold and disappointed. He turns back to Danny, a friendly grin on his face. "I gotta go, people waiting. Sounds like a good night though, maybe we can come to your next one?" "Yeah, definitely, just pop in. You alright, Rory? Alex said you got hurt." Danny finally walks over to us and I nod, lifting the jacket to show my bloodied hip. "Nasty, ok, don't worry, I'll get you home.'

I spun on my heels to get a look at the source of the voice "You were thinking out loud." "I spent over a thousand hours on that painting." The voice continued "E.A.D?" The words left my lips as I stared at the letters at the bottom of the painting "It's an acronym for Eugene Ari Darian." "Greek?" I scoffed, genuinely amused "A greek god actually," he corrected, arrogance clear in his tone with his head held up high "You are arrogant, you know that right?" I asked, not the least bit impressed "Okay, I'm sorry if I've been rude." His attempt at an apology was weak-hearted, he didn't mean it and I could sense it

“Mr. Miller is still attending to some business, Miss Kim.” “Please, just call me Ivy.” “I’m afraid I can’t do that,” Danny replied at once, shaking his head. “It wouldn’t feel right.” “I’m not your boss,” she muttered in exasperation. To sum it up, Danny is a gorgeous man, but even with all his handsomeness, he is the worst romantic partner I have ever met-except Jacob if I'm including that horrible human being in the running, too.
