Time softened around the edges.
Gradually, the laughter faded. The movement slowed.
Damien pulled her close, forehead resting against hers, rain sliding between them.
“You know,” he murmured, “this is better than any gym slow dance.” A pause, then a grin. “But you can still take me to prom, Miss Laurent.”
Aria smiled. “Keep telling yourself that, von Adler.”
Neither of them moved away.
The kiss came gently, like a question neither needed answered — rain-cold and warm all at once, hesitant and then sure. When they finally pulled apart, Damien rested his forehead against hers, grinning like he’d just discovered something important.
