Chapter 49 The wind began to blow hard. The moonlight simply disappeared. Suddenly the room darkened, the lights going out for a few seconds. The flames in the fireplace trembled. A black blur, larger than any natural shadow, crossed the window in a second, with wings that beat once before folding.

She flinched when she saw the shadow in the fire. "Kabir!" She mumbled. "Kabir!" She screamed and tried to run towards it but Damon quickly grabbed her and pulled back. "Mira!" He growled at her angrily as he held back tightly. "Come to your fucking senses, it's just a wild fire!" She flinched at his voice as it broke her trance. "I saw his shadow!... I swear." Her hands trembled as she pointed towards it. Damon looked back and it was just an illusion which flames created.
