The Alpha’s Bane
The Council chamber was bright. Elders sat in a circle, and the air hummed with restrained tension.
Elder Moren sat at the head of the table, his staff resting across his knees. To his right, Elder Thalia flipped through the most recent reports, rumors of Nightfang’s unrest, the disappearance of its Alpha, the imprisonment of a general.
When the doors opened, every head turned.
“Beta Darian of Nightfang,” the guard announced.
Beta Darian stepped inside with practiced composure. His red and black armor gleamed faintly under the sunlight, his expression carefully solemn. He bowed, hands clasped behind him.
