Her boots echoed in the cavernous space as she stepped onto the cold cement floor. A mechanical hum started. Lights flickered on. Dozens of masked men emerged from the shadows. Silent. Armed. He stepped closer. “And yet, you’ve broken everything else. The empire. The legacy. Damon’s illusions.” She didn’t flinch. “Where’s the boy?”

My eyes burned, but a single page pulled me upright. Coordinates. A string of them, written backward in mirror script. I grabbed a sheet of scrap paper, reversed the numbers, and felt a chill. Ghost Harbor. The words pulsed like a warning or an invitation. Damien leaned over my shoulder. “That’s where we finish this.” Before I could answer, the overhead lights flickered. Once. Twice. "Don't move," Dante said. "Don't even fucking breathe wrong." Ghost didn't move. Just sat there truly unborthered and Calm. Hands visible. No weapon. He was too confident for my liking when he needed to be humble. "You went to the church," he said. Not a question. "Found the pact. The files. All of it."

“We can’t track them. They strike, vanish, leave nothing but fire behind.” Dante paced the length of the room, rage coiled tight inside him. “Every ghost has a grave. I’ll find theirs.” Amara’s gaze lingered on the reports, her sharp mind piecing together threads others missed. “No grave,” she murmured. “Ashes don’t bury. They spread.” Dante stilled, turning to her. “What are you saying?”

CHAPTER 3. A red Lamborghini Aventador swept through the driveway of the nightclub, coming to a halt with a vivid screech. Scar was the first to hop out from the driver's seat, and then Ghost followed, getting down from the passenger's seat. With his dark shades concealing his blue orbs, he put the area under tight scrutiny. His eyes swept through the unending queue of scantily dressed females and horny males. There was no sign of a threat, nothing he should be wary of.

Or is she? “I’ll drive,” Dash says as soon as I decide we are going. I follow behind him and I can tell he is looking for Jagger as he opens every door. “The bastard left,” Dash says and I shake my head as I rest a hand on his shoulder. He stops walking and follows my gaze. Jagger is sitting in the games room, his eyes glued to the tv while he shoots at some zombies.

Lana stood up from her seat, glaring at Grey who sat, shocked, his hand over his forehead. “Are you insane?” Lana asked, her voice terrifyingly low. She looked like she could strangle Grey then. “Are you trying to kill me? This face can buy a hundred of you and still have change.” Grey countered, even though he visibly gulped. Lana feigned shock, mouth open. “Really? Why are you interning here then? Why aren't you off making that money somewhere else?”

As they stepped into the cool, damp air of the night, the rain had transformed into a light drizzle, misting the surroundings in a haze.
