David knew his old world always had a way of coming back. One afternoon, David was teaching Daniel how to play chess on their villa’s patio. Daniel, with his messy brown hair, was trying hard to beat his father. Olivia was watering the flowers in the garden, humming softly. Suddenly, David’s phone rang. It was Arthur Vance. David saw the caller’s name, and a bad feeling once again enveloped him. Arthur rarely called unless it was a major problem. “What is it, Arthur?” David asked, his voice tense. Arthur’s voice on the other end of the line sounded extremely serious, even carrying an unusual tone of fear. “David… I have bad news. The worst kind.”

He was still playing with us, still trying to pull Arthur back into the dark. I didn't think about the pain in my side. I didn't think about what David would say. I walked out of my room and strode down the long hallway, my boots thudding heavily against the wood. I didn't stop until I reached the guest room at the very end of the hall. I didn't knock. I pushed the door open and walked inside. Arthur was sitting on the edge of the small bed. The small brown envelope was sitting on the mattress next to him, torn open. When the door slammed against the wall, he jumped, his hand instantly shooting into his jeans pocket. His eyes were wide and full of defiance.

"There’s someone above him. Someone pulling strings.” A shadow moved in the alley across the street. Damien saw it too was at my side in an instant, his body angled protectively in front of mine. The figure stepped into the dim glow of a streetlamp. Tall. Lean. A familiar arrogant tilt to his head. Arthur. He lifted something, a chess piece. The king. Then placed it deliberately on the sidewalk. And walked away. Leaving us with the chilling certainty: This wasn’t over. It had only just begun.

Dante sat next to Arthur and they both focused their gaze on the dark forest. "I shouldn't have let Ara go to this selection parade" he grumbled coherently, but his mother heard him perfectly clear. Mrs Humphrey stifled a laugh as she stared at her worried son, she shook her head and cleared her throat. "Arthur, I thought you were wishing your sister to die there, why do you look more worried than I?" she asked him tauntingly. Arthur scoffed and quickly put on a nonchalant expression. "Worried about who? Ara?" he scoffed. "In her dreams"

Lyon felt shiver down his spine as the events seemed like it had happened right in front of him before, it was as if he was seeing a de javu. “Interesting…” Arthur said with a sinister grin on his face. Chapter End.

Carl fell to the ground, clutching his stomach as blood gushed out of his mouth. "Your majesty, are you alright," Arnold yelled glancing at Arthur." Arthur let out a burst of laughter. "I won Carl, I won. I finally defeated you," Arthur said, taking slow steps towards Carl. Carl fixates his weak gaze on Arthur. 'I won't be dying alone,' he mumbled inwardly. And before Arthur and Arnold knew what was happening, Carl used all his strength to launch an attack, on Arthur, plunging his sword into his heart.

Liam said, placing his hand on the table as eyes were on his fingers. “Then I have to say that the person has been watching you closely, or Miss Jessica," David confirmed the likelihood Liam's doubt raised. Liam let out a sigh before choosing to remain silent.
