Chapter 68 Arthur's face twisted with rage as he glared at Sarah. "You think you're so clever, don't you?" he spat. "But you're not. You're just a foolish little girl who thinks she can take on me." Sarah stood her ground, her eyes flashing with defiance. "I'm not afraid of you, Arthur," she said, her voice steady. Arthur's laughter was cold and menacing. "You should be," he sneered. "I'm the one who's been making headlines, who's been making your life a living hell. And you think you can just waltz in here and confront me?"

That brought a strange look to Valerie's face, but it only lasted for a while, because Valerie didn't want to stall any longer just because of Arthur's strange behavior. Arthur opened his eyes after hearing the bathroom door close. "Gosh, what's wrong with me today." Arthur who was already in a sitting position reflexively touched the place where his heart was still beating rapidly. Arthur climbed down the bed to get his clothes and put them back on. He had to go back to his Mension to clean his body and change into his office clothes. Arthur opened his wallet and placed the black card on the nightstand. A card that only the elite like Arthur Davidson had.

Though she had not spoken it, she had indirectly implied, through her tone and look that Victor was more powerful than Arthur, and he did not like or appreciate that. “What is Rah reading?” Chloe asked sharply. “I have asked him to research on the kingdoms we have,” Arthur spoke. “Why?” Chloe asked with narrowed eyes. “I sense something is coming, call it my hunch or gut feeling but something is going to happen. And before it does, I would like to know about my adversaries,” Arthur sighed.

Matthew's vision blurred as Arthur stood up, switchblade raised high, ready to bring it down on Matthew's head. Matthew was quick and crawled backward making Arthur miss the target. Arthur growled in frustration and pursued Matthew. "You can't run forever." He dove forward, tackling Matthew to the ground. They wrestled, each trying to gain the upper hand. Arthur managed to pin Matthew down, the switchblade poised above Matthew's face. "Any last words?" Matthew smirked and pointed a gun on Arthur's temple, "Any last words?" Arthur's eyes flashed with anger and a hint of admiration for Matthew's tenacity. "You're a worthy opponent," he whispered, his voice dripping with venom. "But it's over."

“He’d love it. He’ll probably give you ten overly complicated ways to hide a body, too.” “I’ll only use the PG-rated ones,” Arthur promised. He stretched, his joints popping. “You know, he called. Yesterday. To check on you.” I looked up from my disastrous sketch. “He did?” Arthur nodded. “He heard about the DA dropping everything. He said… and I quote… ‘Tell Gwen I’m glad the system finally caught up with what I knew fifty years ago.’” Arthur’s smile was soft. “He always believed in you, Gwen. Even when it was… complicated.”

She said confidently. “You know, I believed you. I did believe that you loved my son, I gave you a chance to prove it to me. I guess I fell for one of your deceitful traps again.” What a joke. “I fell in love with him. Not the target, not the hybrid. Arthur. The boy who carries too much and still tries to stand between everyone he loves and the dark. I love him enough that I can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep lying to him.” She claims.
