Ashes to Dawn

Ashes to Dawn

GRACE'S POV The night air hit differently when we stepped out of the bar. It was cooler and much quieter. Almost like the world was trying to calm me down after everything that had happened inside. Or maybe it was just me. I'd have very much loved the latter. I had too much of the universe trying to do something through me that I felt like my core was shifting. Like what even was going on? “Well, that was quite productive.” Susan stretched like she had just been released from captivity. I know I felt it too.

Rising Dawn

Rising Dawn

I couldn't find find my mobile or my nightstand. I panicked and opened my eyes to look around. The bright sun shining from the window onto my face and eyes made me close my eyes due to the brightness. I adjusted my eyes to the brightness and opened my eyes to see that it was not my house, it was the fucking hotel room where we... Everything what had happened yesterday came back to me like scenes in a movie, I remember I was drinking too much then I saw.... Sierra Jane, just the girl I was thinking about and we.. ohhh... my... fucking luck.... I played pool with her and then came to her hotel room....

Eternal Dawn, Fleeting Dusk

Eternal Dawn, Fleeting Dusk

Trying to ease the tension, Andres suggested, "How about we have an artist paint a portrait of us tomorrow? Once it's done, we can take a photo with it and place it at your mother's grave to give her peace of mind." Camellia wanted to refuse, but Andres was insistent, so she reluctantly agreed. The next morning at ten, the artist he had arranged for arrived. "Nice to meet you, Cam. I'm Valentina Dawson, Andres'… junior." Seeing Valentina, Andres' face betrayed a flicker of unease. Clearly, she was not the artist he had called. "Mr. Wilson had something come up, so I'm filling in for him," Valentina explained, her gaze sweeping over Camellia with a faint, inscrutable smile.

Divorced At Night, Married By Dawn

Divorced At Night, Married By Dawn

Chapter 14: **** The morning after the Global Trade Summit should have been quiet. It wasn’t. I woke before sunrise. The house was still, but my mind was racing. Adrian was still sleeping, one arm thrown over the empty space I’d just left. I watched him for a minute, then slipped out of bed. I walked barefoot to the kitchen, poured black coffee, and stood by the window. The city was waking up. So was the war. Few minutes later,my phone vibrated on the counter. It was an unknown number.

She Was The Joke, Now She’s The Queen

She Was The Joke, Now She’s The Queen

"We'll find out if I end up begging you." Like a stretched rope on the verge of breaking, the room fell silent. With an uncaring voice, Andrew released her chin. "Fine, have it your way." Hadley exhaled with relief. Andrew did not come back that evening. As dawn broke and the snow continued to fall, Hadley completed her packing. After staring silently out the window for a while, she lowered her gaze. It had been years since she had last seen snow this heavy, as she dimly recalled.

Dumped at Noon, Settled by Night

Dumped at Noon, Settled by Night

I was in a deep sleep when a loud, relentless knock on the door pulled me out of my dreams. My head throbbed from the noise. "Rebecca? Are you awake?" Giovanni asked. I didn't bother to answer. Moments later, the bedroom door swung open. Giovanni walked in. Rosa trailed behind him with a few girls she hung out with. Giovanni frowned. "Rebecca, Rosa insisted on coming to apologize." "Apologize?" I pushed myself up and pressed a palm to my pounding head.

World of Tomorrow

World of Tomorrow

** Sitting quietly with a newspaper raised before him, Andrew watched his fretful wife pacing back and forth across their drawing room space. He’d already convinced her to shower again to remove the grime from her sensitive skin and clear her lungs. Naturally, he'd taken full advantage and offered his playfully unhelpful washing assistance, including deliberately ‘accidentally’ wetting her hair and ruining the style. With the additional time she’d spent fending off his wholly intentional and purely distraction-motivated advances, he’d still only managed to burn off another two hours on top of the one it had taken for them to return to the hotel in the cab with the slow-moving traffic navigat

I've barely been able to put this story down. I absolutely love it. I love how descriptive the story is. And it has made me want to have been able to go to that World's Fair. It is a beautiful love story and I can't wait to finish it.

I am only to Chapter 22, but this book is Amazing so far and by far my favorite. I love historical fiction and this piece is a gem. I read the Author's book about Grace and Juliet and just had to jump right into this one as some characters are the same.

The Awakening

The Awakening

My eyes drift closed. The darkness behind my lids is the same as the darkness in the cell. The same suffocating blackness that wraps around my chest and squeezes. I'm so tired. So impossibly, bone-deep tired. Just for a moment, I tell myself. Just a few minutes of sleep. Then I'll wake up. Then I'll keep fighting. Then, the door creaks. My eyes snap open. Footsteps. Light. Careful. Not Kai's heavy tread. Not the guards' careless shuffle. Someone else.

A NIGHT WITH MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS

A NIGHT WITH MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS

The scent of roses clung to my skin. There was a knock on the door — Daniel, smiling, holding takeout and a bottle of wine. We ate, laughed, talked about anything that wasn’t complicated. It felt… good. Light. Until my phone buzzed. Andrew: Where are you? I frowned. At the office _Why? No reply. --- The next morning, I was at his office early. Andrew sat behind his desk, perfectly composed, swirling a glass of red wine — at ten in the morning. i just dropped the last files when Daniel called out to me
