Serendipity nodded, tearing her eyes away from the structure at last and smiling into those familiar green ones. As Corey led her inside, they were instantly greeted by dozens of working elves, each of whom called out, “Merry Christmas!” which Serendipity would have found rather odd considering Christmas was over months ago were she not standing in Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole. Instead, she answered with a jolly, “Merry Christmas!” in return. She noticed, and found it rather odd, that though Corey always acknowledged the speaker, he only chose to say, “Hello,” or “Good evening,” in response, never “Merry Christmas.”

Her room was filled up as everyone was trying the console her parents. Then an observant neighbor saw the suicide note lying helplessly on the bed. She reached for it and realized that it was from Rose. After reading few lines, her heart couldn't bear the sorrowful letter so she alerted everyone that Rose left a note. At that point, a note couldn't pacify the crying mother or the bittered father who was escorted outside with fellow elders consoling him dearly.

"It's not much, but consider this a donation to the church. Thank you so much for stopping by." The preacher took the money. "You really didn't have to do this, but thank you so much. I'll make sure this goes in the offering plate on Sunday." The man nodded, smiling. "Thank you. And have a very Merry Christmas." Caden leaned over Jocelyn's head and whispered, "That was fun." She looked up, a devilish smile on her lips. "See? I told you it'd be fun." "And you were right." "As usual," she teased.

That was weird because he had a look in his eyes that she didn't understand. Daniel noticed. “You good? Who's that?” He asked as he got in. “Yeah,” she said. “That’s my colleague. Dr. Davy.” He glanced at the gift bag she was holding. “He came bearing gifts, huh?” She laughed. “It’s Christmas.” “Well,” Daniel said, smiling, “now I need to up my game.” “It’s not a competition,” she said. “You think so?” “I know so.” He started the car. “We’re going skating first. The movie is in three hours.”
