She walked closer, her dress dragging across the ground like a snake. “These precious little things,” she continued, “are very, very special. Kaira ran back into the house while mom remained watching us like a hawk. Elena had told her that she was going to the pack house earlier which was something that rarely happened so she guessed that things were probably wrong. Melissa was an average short woman with ash-brown hair and she was beautiful. She had a few resemblances to Elena except for their height because her niece was taller than her, taking after her mother. "So what happened? I don't think it's a good one." Melissa said after Elena settled down for dinner. Her aunt also pulled out one of the tucked-in chairs and sat on it. She gently dished out their meal and patiently waited for Elena to reply. "I fought with Drake today in school." She replied.

I knew Derek Houston deserved what i did to him, at least that was payment for all the times him and his crazy friends bullied me, for all the times they made me miss classes, for all the those times they left bruises on me and definitely for the times that pervert stole kisses from me, but I could have still been patient. Melissa's POV I was in my office with Aiden and Fred when my phone rang out. It was Alpha Drew. “Hello.” “Melissa, my pack just got attacked right now.” He said, sounding out of breath. I stood on my feet. “What? Are you okay?” He chuckled tiredly. “I'm good, just got some injuries but I'm fine. What about you?” “I'm glad to hear that you're okay. I'm fine too, we got attacked by a dark beast, what about you?”

She took a slow deep breath before lifting her gaze toward us. One by one. First Cain. Then me. Then Cypril. And somehow, the calmness in her eyes frightened me more than anger ever could. I could hear my heartbeat loudly inside my ears now. They were fast and heavy, almost painful. It felt like my heart was trying to burst right out of my chest. Melissa finally spoke. “I, Melissa Copper, hereby reject Cain Stone, Caleb Stone, and Cypril Stone as my mates.” The moment the words left her lips, everything around me seemed to stop. My hearing faded midway through the sentence as the world suddenly became distant and muffled.

Snickeringly, she replied to Stacy. "And you!" She turned to me, way too bold than I had ever sighted her, "Because you want to have a taste of me? The somewhat spell that seem to capture all my strength expired as I saw Melissa slumping to the floor. "Melissa!!!" *** Melissa's POV I was laying at the center of a long narrow bridge whose water frost like ice. I couldn't handle the chill as I was clouded up inside fog. Barely was I able to see but I could feel and my soul was bleeding, not of blood but rather of intensified emotion.

And it worked. “I’ll kill them” The word hung heavily in the air between us for what felt like an eternity. “They will find a way to get even” Melissa whispered as she stared at a spot just above my head. She seemed distant, like a woman who didn’t know what was real anymore. She was looking at the space above me but wasnt actually seeing anything. ‘Like a person who has lost their soul and doesn’t know why.’ And suddenly it became all too clear. This woman was broken.
