“You think you’re a god?” “No,” I said. “I think I’m worse.” The Demon King leaned back, watching me carefully. “Then let’s begin.” The room shifted. Walls melted into shadows. Chains rose from the floor, and voices started to whisper in my ears—voices of the dead, the damned, the forgotten. “Prove your hunger,” the Demon King said. The normal demons might have confined powers, such as some might control a certain aspect of the weather or an element of the earth, some might be capable of shape shifting. However, the Demon King’s title awarded him much more flexibility with his abilities.
