She began to believe that the world itself was phony as she saw her lovers look at the period in question when she felt nothing but disdain and absence of affection. She believed that the only thing you will receive in the end is suffering if you decide to believe with all your heart. She was deceived by her close pals after being duped by her lover first. Speak your lies from the other side of that door or not at all.” Finally, the stranger shifted his gaze to Kristen, and the smirk returned, edged with challenge. “Protect her all you like, Alpha. It won’t change the truth written in her blood.” Kristen stiffened, his body coiling like a spring about to snap. “And what truth is that?” The stranger’s eyes flicked back to me, softer now, almost reverent. “She’s Kin.” The word hung heavy in the air, foreign yet familiar, as if my bones recognized it even if my mind did not. Besides he said the exact same thing the last time. My lips parted, a whisper escaping before I could stop it. “Kin?”
