The room was dark, so my fingers fumbled for the switch, and the moment the light flickered on, my breath caught in my throat. Demon… was on the floor. His hands were clamped over his ears, his whole body shaking violently like he was trying to block something out—something only he could hear. He looked… different. Nothing like the person I thought I knew. Shock rooted me to the spot. A loud crack of thunder tore through the sky again. Demon flinched hard, his fingers digging tighter against his ears as his body trembled even more. “Don’t… do it. Don’t do it.”

They were better off without me. "That's it," the demon encouraged, his voice so gentle now. So understanding. "Just let go. Drift away. You've earned your rest, little wolf. You have earned…" A sound cut through the void. A baby crying. Faint, Distant, But unmistakable. "Ignore it," the demon said quickly, his voice losing some of its gentleness. "It is just an echo. Nothing real." But it was real. I knew that sound. I had heard it in those brief moments before I had leaped into the crater. I had felt it vibrate through my very soul.

Much like how he was hours ago. The demon's arms tightened even more. Pulling him against him until there was nothing, not even air, separated the both of them. With his cheek pressed against the demon's chest, he could hear a familiar noise. Thump, thump, thump. Kavan's heart was beating so hard, so fast, Fyn feared he might have a heart attack. It had been peaceful, until Kavan broke the silence with a scream.

I opened my eyes apprehensively. My frenzied gaze scanned the room. The creepy mirror demons didn’t bother me, as Desmond was the only one that interested me. That voice had an uncanny similarity to my incubus. Where was he? Why couldn’t I see him? My eager search continued until Madame Meredith Long’s hysterical laughter distracted me.

He grumbles, his voice coming out in measured breaths. My brows furrow in confusion. Levi was attacked as well…how is that possible when we weren’t in the same room? And where is Jamari? “Demon’s are such babies!” Morgana mumbles under her breath, nearly unhearable even with my Lycan hearing. A chuckle reverberates through my chest, causing pain to explode throughout my system, reminding me that my body was just under assault a few minutes ago. A groan leaves my lips, catching the attention of Morgana.

Jennifer screamed and I quickly covered her mouth. “What? You want to implicate me?” I rebuked in a low tone and removed my hand from her mouth. “I’m sorry, but wait, I still can’t believe what you are saying. Russell, a demon? How can you say he is a demon? Haven’t you heard stories about demons before? Demons are scary creatures, black from head to toe with long horns and red eyes that you can never glance at. The man I saw earlier is the complete opposite of a demon. Tell me something else, Muriel,” Jennifer let out in disbelief, waving off my explanation with her hand.

"Now, I don't want to kill the little one. But I will." The monitor stuttered back to life, a weak, irregular pulse threading through the silence like a fraying lifeline. Damon tilted his head, listening to the erratic beeps with the detached curiosity of a scientist noting an unexpected variable. "Ah," he murmured, as if the dying pup had just told him a mildly amusing joke.

I hissed. “I dare not.” His eyes darted to mine, then back to my fur. “I have to inform you… this resembles vitiligo. A depigmentation disorder. It is common among humans, and sometimes animals. But—” he paused, and his voice dropped lower, “I have never, in all my years, seen a demon with it.” I let out a bitter laugh. “You insult me. You think I came here for human diagnoses?” “It is no insult,” he replied quickly. “I tell you what I see. The skin, the fur—it loses pigment. There is no pain? No burning?”

’ I was listening but I did not respond because they would notice that I wasn’t paying any attention. ‘Hello? Master?’ Belzeebub waves his hands in front of me, trying to catch my attention. ‘Hellooooo?’ I cast a quick glare at Belzeebub, just enough for him to realize that I see him. ‘Oh, right um… according to one of my flies, there should be a demon attack very soon. Mammon is trying to keep it at bay, but it is a flying type demon—it’s Remoire. So…you know. We tried our best.’ “WHAT!?” I got caught off guard that I forgot where I was and I yelled. Everyone was looking at me. “I’m sorry. I was just—”
