I add calmly, looking back at Logan, “and you were fucking someone in my family …”
I pause. “… I probably would’ve done the exact same thing.”
It’s casual. To perk him up. I don’t have a sister anymore. But still … somehow the words feel like a summons to fate, a quiet dare that the universe is already preparing to set up.
Logan studies my face for a long moment. Really studies it. Like he’s searching for something.
Then slowly … he nods. “Still feels like shit,” he mutters.
“Yeah,” I admit. “We both screwed up.”
