I wasn’t sure what to say or how to even begin a normal conversation after what we had just been through. My eyes drifted back to the strange creature lying on the ground. Its body was twisted in an unnatural way, and even though it wasn’t moving anymore, just looking at it made my skin crawl. “What… what was that thing?” I asked finally, breaking the silence. Kaden let out a deep sigh. “It’s called a beast demon,” he said slowly, like he wasn’t sure how I would take it. “They’ve been showing up in our pack for a few months now.”
