XAVIER’S POV My brain shut down as the screams of the people I had come to know as my friends and true family burned in the flames. My heart stopped beating and things seemed to happen in slow motion. I saw their faces contorting in pain, yet no sound came. I turned to see the evil grin on my uncle’s face as he watched my reaction and enjoyed the pain on their faces. Then my eyes landed on Abigail and that was when it dawned on me that this was truly happening. She was unaffected. Never staring at the people —our people. Her eyes remained on me, and I asked myself how did we get here?

A few minutes ago, she was disappointed about it, but suddenly, she would have wanted me to keep the video. She pushed her hair back. “Yeah…” she said as she sat on my desk and folded her legs like she owned the place. “You said it turns you on and I don’t want to be a buzzkill.” I fixed my narrowed gaze on her. “You’re… I don’t even know how to describe you.” Abby didn’t respond immediately. Toffee couldn't accept that after all this time Matt had managed to lay low. He couldn't accept the reality that, once again, Matt would have to suffer and sacrifice himself for this woman. "She has that scent bro, you knew that very well, and you're aware that I can't avoid it. It's part of this curse on me. Just get her out of here, please," Matt patted Toffee's shoulder and turned away. "Can I see you again or will you disappear again?"

"What did you just say?" Derek's smile was smug and cruel. "I said," he said, his tone low and cold, "that I'm going to show you a video of your parents being tortured by Lucian. You're going to watch it, and you're going to listen to everything they say. Are you ready?". A smirk grew on Derek’s face as he set and activated the projector. Ava watched, her eyes wide, as the screen flickered to life. The image was grainy and black and white, and for a moment she couldn't make out what she was seeing. And then the image sharpened, and she felt her stomach drop.

Ines Sutherland's gaze moved from the divorce agreement on the table to me. Her voice was full of impatience. "Arthur Weber, stop being unreasonable. My sister is gone. Taking care of Marcus is the proper thing to do." Marcus Pierce panicked and pushed the gold watch back toward Ines. "Ines, take the watch back. Do not let me cause trouble between you and Arthur."
