I asked, pointing vaguely in Alexander’s direction. They all nodded without hesitation. I blinked, my thoughts racing, before letting out a small gasp. “Then the robbery…” My voice trailed off before I forced myself to finish. “Was that a lie? Was someone actually after us that time?” “There was someone who was trying to kill us at that moment,” Dexter answered calmly, as if he were stating something completely ordinary. I felt my mind reel. I was completely blown away. Suddenly, everything started connecting—the strange incidents, the tension, the unexplained threats. Even those odd messages I had received… they were all part of his world.

Snorting, I turned to face Axel, noticing he was staring at us with a little smile tugging at his lips. “Ace,” I called fiercely. “Will you please tell your brother to take his hands off me?” Axel tutted, his voice ringing out sharply. “Damien, please take your hands off Rosetta.” I faced Damien again squarely, wriggling my wrists free as he flashed another smile, making my stomach lurch. “Sure.” He was reluctant to let go, but I was determined to keep his hands off me.
