The second flute goes down easier than the first, and by the third, the room feels warmer, a little softer around the edges, with laughter and voices too loud, while I ignore the worried look the guys pass me because I’m too busy staring at the stage with disdain.
The ladies are right. Christian and his lady friend do look great together. She looks like someone who can command a mafia family, navigating them with poise and expertise. Does she even know he’s a mafia head aside from his shiny identity as a businessman? Or does she know and doesn’t care?
