I flipped it open. Inside, lines of cramped handwriting filled every page: numbers, short notes, initials. Times written in neat, military precision, 21:00, 00:30, 03:15, followed by code names I recognized. Raven. Fox. Hawk. All of them were call signs used by my guards. “What is this?” I asked.

Because he wasn’t sure who the caller was, he held the phone to his chest instead of his ears and remained mute. “The man is not responding, he has refused to prepare the chemicals.” The deep and hoarse voice echoed through the phone. “Who are you?” Jack asked, trying to make sure. “Double 0 S…” He answered. Double 0 S was code they used in identifying themselves. “Force him.” Jack yelled realising it was one of his men on the phone. “We have done everything we can. If he doesn’t respond I’m afraid we will not be able to bring them in today.” The caller stated.

Next to her was the Communication officer, who busy managing the constantly busy communication lines. “...This is 4th Division, Please Proceed..over”. My phone kept vibrating nonstop with notification sounds. Faith stood up and asked, "Messages from Rita?" I glanced at the contact name and nodded. The corners of her lips curved upward into a smile.

“Maybe his phone is almost dead, or he wanted to see if it worked before he tried.” I nodded and shoved my phone into my pocket. Surely, Dax would’ve noticed that his 6:00 am message went through. Wouldn’t he have told the others? Cadence asked a question that had just occurred to me as well. “Why would cell phones work and not IACs?” Oswald replied, “They don’t run on exactly the same technology. But you’d think if one sort of signal could get in and out every once in a while, so would the other.”

He shook his head helplessly as he dialed Ed, Frank and Shadow into the conference call. “Is she okay?” Frank asked worriedly as soon as the phone connected. “I am fine” Dana responded before Ben could answer. She didn’t want to be a part of the awkward conversation between friends and wanted to let them know that she was on the call. “Ben??” Ed asked cautiously. “He’s here” Ben responded casually. “Oh…” Ed and Frank responded in unison and then everyone fell silent. “Boss, any leads?” Shadow decided to open the conversation. “Not exactly” Ben paused “Ed, have heard of any organization with Eagle, Falcon or Hawk in their name?”
