The Lycan King's Captive
Blood welled up, dark red in the dim light.
"Please," I whispered to whatever gods or moon spirits might be listening. "Please let this work."
I held my bleeding palm over a cup of water, letting drops of my blood fall into the liquid. Three drops. Then five. Then ten.
The water began to glow.
Faintly at first, then brighter. A soft silver luminescence that seemed to pulse with its own heartbeat, before the liquid became still.
