I wished we could spend the rest of the time with less drama and more happiness. Lucas squeezed my hands gently, "There's no need for that. If I can't be classmates with you then I will be the cool neighbor who you have a crush on." I smiled. It was silly but cute. I can imagine Lucas in casual clothing passing by my house. I would wave at him and always greet him with expectations, trying to be a polite and well-mannered lady in front of him. "If you are my neighbor, I think I will greet you every time I see you. But with your snobbish personality, I bet you won't even return my greetings."

“Are you okay?” I refuse to look at him. “I am fine.” With his hand on my knee, a comforting feeling takes over me. “Gracie, I meant what I said last night. If you need to talk, I am here.” I manage to get a strained thank you out, hoping that if I don’t say much, he will leave it be. It works, he doesn’t push any further. I offered him a seat before going to my kitchen to sort out his dish. I like the way he seems free, and I'm glad I have gotten a friend as a neighbor; it's always boring to be here alone.

What are you up to right now?” “Oh, just waiting for Mr. Next Door to return from the gym so I can torture his ears tonight.” She laughs, full and loud. “Lulu! Leave that man alone! I was still watching what was happening around me when suddenly, I saw a bus filled with lots of luggage coming into our streets slowly. “A new neighbor, huh? The kind that wouldn’t mind their business I guess” I hissed as I took a gulp from my tea and swallowed it peacefully. I hated neighbors that would never mind their business. They would always want to come over to your place to act all cool and pretend to be nice, so they could make their way into your heart. I could recall having an experience with a man called Nathan. He was nice and all sweet. He brought me cookies and I really enjoyed his company until one day, he came into my house very late at night.

He nodded, “I see, so tell me about Cliff, he was your neighbor and a casual friend?” I chuckled, “yes, he was my neighbor, but no, I wouldn’t consider him a casual friend as you are so eloquently putting my one and done life style, he was a cordial hello, nothing more for me anyway.” He sat up, “for you, but what about him, did you believe he wanted more?”

He asked, his eyes wide open in shock and I nodded. "Did you.. " "Yeah, saw you on my first day here" I said and his brows fell. "Then why didn't.." "Well, I felt like you didn't feel the same way and I was the only one and you know, showing up in front of you again as your neighbor, that might seem you know, like a pain in your ass" I said laughing at my own joke while he was quiet.
