Dog Man Art Book Novels & Stories

Bellatrix Sinclair Panic clawed at my throat, my lungs burning from deprivation. The expansive room coloured pitch-black and slowly closing in. Lifting my head and catching a glimpse of a portrait on the roof that appeared to be of 18th century that depicted bloodshed between wolves and humans. The wide mouth of a black wolf, his fangs bloody as he tore a chunk of flesh from a human. This couldn’t be considered art; it was a slaughter, and it was terrifying.

When the man looked down, he saw Polly. “What are you a dog?” the man seemed to be asking him. “Are you hungry?” the man asked as he took another piece from his stick. “You want this?” Polly didn’t know how else he could convey to that man that - “Yes, I am a dog!…Yes, I am hungry!…and Yes, I want that piece of fat skewered at the bottom part of the stick!… That is the best part, human!”

“All proceeds will be donated for the cause, brother, and Lake is loaded. Don’t be shy to donate, man.” Mykel shook his head in amusement. “Well, I’ll go check out some paintings.” I grabbed a champagne flute when Lake nodded. I walked towards the blue corner with paintings of expressionism. I’m not an enthusiast, but the painting was a naked man in bed. I went to the other with fewer guests. The fingerprinting caught my eye. The handprint produced a beautiful portrait of a dog and a cat with smiling eyes. “That’s nice.” Lake stood beside me. “Yeah, I like it.”

Whispering to myself, I look at the old man. book and around the table, finding a pencil on the edge. I pick it up and go back to the book once more. I know very well that I am too curious for my own good as I use the pencil to open the book to the first page. The book appears to be a record of something, all done by hand. It has a painting that looks like a human with dark hair, strange bat wings come out of its back and stretch out to the sides. The wings appear white, almost glowing with a silvery tinge. The human is naked from the waist up, and markings cover the middle of the man's chest. The markings look like the silhouette of a pomegranate in red and four crimson stars line up beneat

soda gives me inspiration when reading, besides me, on the floor, lay Arthur’s pet Rottweiler, the dog had nearly tore me off, the day it saw me, Arthur had to calm it down, I don’t know if Arthur explained to the dog that I was his wife, because the next day, the dog had sauntered up to me and wagged it’s tail, it quickly became friends with me. “Jeez! Flint I don’t even know what to write” I said and Flint whined and stared at me, sometimes I think the dog understood a lot, he jumped into my lap and used a paw to close the book as if telling me to forget about writing for now, I laughed and rubbed his head, he jumped down and I walked out of the study with he on my trail.

He took out the book. I recognized it immediately — the specific weight and age of it, the dark worn cover, the quality of something made to last rather than to be convenient. He placed it on the log between us. "Open it," he said. I picked it up. I opened it carefully. The first pages — text in a script I could not read, dense and precise. I turned pages. Then the illustrations began. Sketches. Detailed, accurate ink drawings of wolves. Not decorative — documentary. The specific anatomy rendered by someone who had seen wolves closely enough to record them correctly.

It looked brand new and in English. Mesmerized l saw the book cover. There was a fusion of colors all over the page but in the middle of the page there was painting of a man standing in the dark with his legs apart and bands facing the ground. The only fascinating thing was his shadow was entirely different. It was a wolf with it's all four legs on the ground but with it's head held high and it's snout was in the air like it was howling. "Darn it", l frowned when I failed to understand anything.

Ryan asks quietly, though I doubt shouting would wake this dead-to-the-world puppy. I look up at him and smile. "Yes. It was a very good surprise. Thank you." Ryan looks away and a smile graces his lips. "I thought you didn't want a dog, though." He is quiet for a moment, looking at his hands. "I thought a dog might be good for you," he says finally. "Maybe for me too." Ryan reaches into the box and pulls out a book titled Your Samoyed and You. He opens the book and begins to read silently. My eyes widen at the picture of a large, fluffy white dog on the front.

Leaning against my desk with my arms crossed, I ask, "What did your old bedroom look like?" "Even messier than yours," Lennox replies, flipping through a hefty graphic novel titled Duncan the Wonder Dog by Adam Hines, one of my favorites. "Nirvana and Blink 182 posters covering the walls, only school books scattered around, an expensive surround sound system, and a punching bag." He rotates the novel vertically as he flips through the panels. "In short, I was cooler than you." I manage an irritated smile. "It's like you're intentionally trying to get kicked out of my bedroom or something."
