Dominic
Dominic said nothing but only stretched his long legs as we sat down, while I clung stiffly to him, breathing in the fumes of the palpable tension in the room.
How long were we expected to sit like this?
“What brings everyone here today?” Dominic asked in a leisurely manner, absently rubbing circles inside my hand.
“Can't we-”
"Excuse me," I said cutting Rosetta off. I
suddenly felt sick to my stomach.
I got up and walked past them as I left the lounge.
"When are you getting rid of that girl?" I heard Rosetta say, no longer pretending.
"She's my wife's mother; we talked about this," I heard Dominic say as I climbed the stairs, and my heart did some salsa.
