Mara examined the branching redness near the wound. “Silver poisoning isn’t just a burn,” she said, and I realized after a second that she was speaking to me. “It interferes with healing. Agitates the shift response. Causes fever, tremor, aggression, sometimes hallucination if exposure is prolonged.”
I looked at Colton. He was watching me instead of Mara. My chest tightened. “Hallucination?”
“Not this time,” Mara said. “He’s stubborn, not dying.”
