Episode 49 – The Confessional Diary The attic smelled of dust and forgotten things. Ophelia’s fingers traced the spine of a leather-bound journal, its surface cool and smooth, tucked away in a cedar chest that had belonged to her grandmother. She hadn’t been looking for secrets; she’d been looking for old photo albums. But the moment she lifted the diary’s cover and saw the elegant, looping script, her own script, from years ago, a peculiar heat bloomed in her chest.

Dear Diary, I’ve decided to keep a book recording all my days here at High Hill, should make pleasant reading in the future! Well, let’s start with the basics. I’m Gabriel; surname’s irrelevant as I’d rather not link myself to my parents. I’m 15; average height, wavy mousey brown hair, hazel brown eyes, and I’ve just arrived on my first day here. My parents sent me here because apparently public school isn’t good enough for me. But the reason they don’t know is that my parents would rather not have a son like me around them, snobbish twats. I’m just not good enough for them because I’m gay... Oh yes, did I not mention, I’m gay...and single... and full of a house with lots of boys in it. Oh b

“It’s thrilling sneaking around.” Mack smirked, but he was hiding his hurt. Who would have thought the cocky and arrogant Mackenzie Craft would find such a soft spot in me? No way would I have ever pictured him being so delicate and sincere. He was more of the bold, no nonsense, jackass that scared everyone else.

I agreed to be his assistant, damn it. She laughs. "Yeah, and don't let the giant dick steal your happiness. Screw him!" I bury my face in my hands. "I already did!" The situation can't be worse. Ashley stands up quickly, causing the couch to push back slightly. "Listen to me, Mackenzie." She points a finger in my direction, full of the courage I lack. "You are going into work and you're going to shake your shit. You'll be the best damn assistant he's had in his life and you'll show him you don't care. Mackenzie Marshal is a bad bitch and now that you've had him, you don't need him anymore."

I whispered. Meg nodded. The walls were empty. There wasn't a single picture in sight. Minutes turned into hours, and frustration threatened to consume us. Just as the doubt began to seep into the room, Meg's eyes landed on a small diary hidden beneath a stack of papers in a box. Her fingers, now trembling slightly, reached out and delicately retrieved it. "I think this is it," Meg whispered, her voice barely audible. "Come look at this." On the cover were the initials A.M. written in block letters. A.M. Alec McCain.

That night, after I took my meds, I lay in bed, half-asleep and groggy. Clement walked in, holding a bowl of mutton stew. "Madison said you skipped dinner, so she borrowed the hotel kitchen and made this to warm you up," he said. "She even cut herself while slicing the mutton. Have a taste and stop being mad, okay?" The strong smell of mutton filled the entire room, making me sick. Clement acted like he didn't even notice and kept trying to shove the bowl closer to my mouth.

My first memoir in a new diary. My old diary was filled with stories and stories of girls I've fucked and turned but after this incident that happened on 23/4/2027 I had to start a new diary. So... I was angry that mum was remarrying. I really hate the thought that she couldn't keep her pussy at check after dad's death and jumped into another man's arms. However, she kept reassuring me that it's going to be fine but I hate it as hell.

I could feel the blood rushing in my ears, the little flutter in my chest, the way my fingers tightened around my pen without me realizing it. Imagine him standing just behind me, leaning over my desk… lips barely a breath away… oh yes… fuck me daddy. I shook my head, pretending to focus on my notes, but my eyes kept darting to him. My imagination refused to be tamed. “Tell me something,” I murmured to Mia. She looked at me warily. “What?” “If someone wanted to get his attention… how would they do it?” Her eyes widened. “Anna, you can’t be serious.”

And yet, I knew that deep inside, she was still hoping that her father got to know the real her and that he would love her without trying to change her. When I saw her at the bar drinking alone, I actually felt bad for her. She should have somebody to talk to. She should know that she could trust someone. I doubted that Jennifer Gracie was really her friend. After all, what kind of best friend tells other people your deepest, darkest thoughts and secrets? Mackenzie was so used to not trusting anyone that she kept everything in. She appeared to be tough and carefree, when inside I knew she was breaking. She needed somebody to take care of her; she needed somebody to trust.

Then when Lucas comes back, I could ask him for how to get blood from the blood bank without anyone suspecting. “My brother is starting to smell like food to me. Goddamnit! I can't help myself anymore.” Mackenzie probably needed the help now but there was no way I could help her immediately. I could only help her help herself, if she was willing. “Breathe, Mackenzie. How are you?” “I feel horrible.” She said while holding back a sob. I could hear everything that she was trying to keep silent. “Go to the bathroom and turn on the shower. Sit directly under the shower so that the water is pouring on your skin and don't end this call. I'll be with you shortly.”
