I didn't even get the chance to thank her for looking out for me even when I didn't complain. Just as I entered the foyer and turned towards the stairs, I met a girl standing there. Long midnight black hair, dark eyes, pale creamy skin. There was something about her that seemed so mythical. Mackenzie Today was the last day of high school and the start of the rest of our lives. It was a gorgeous day, the sun bright and the weather warm and inviting. I couldn’t wait for the day to be over so I could go to the beach with my best friend Elena. She and I have been friends since we were pups, growing up together in the Blue River pack where we lived. I had an overbearing and overprotective older brother named Mason. There was nothing I could do without him knowing. But Mackenzie was not unconscious at all. She turned back to wink at me and pressed the button on a remote control so that the pesticide would keep spraying inside the greenhouse.
