*Mackenzie* I was staring at the plate, playing with the food; despite the delicious smell and the terrible sucking sensation in my stomach, I couldn't swallow anything but water, and even though I knew that I needed strength to escape, my energy disappeared when I woke up and noticed that Fireball had disappeared.

Amber and the girls widen their eyes and leave promptly. Mrs. McGee snatches the book away from Mackenzie as she passes by and gives it back to me. All four girls exit the room and allow the door to shut harshly behind them. The teacher begins by introducing herself like every year and writes the rules down on the board, along with an outline of what books we will begin to read for the first quarter of the year.

Mia's POV I lock up the door of this old, abandoned house. Running for days because of the zombie outbreak. I find a room with bars on the windows. It looks safe, but then I hear a noise. Zeke stumbles in from the closet. He was bitten last week. His skin is gray and peeling; pus leaks from sores on his arms. He smells of rotten meat and shit. His eyes are milky white. He groans low. I retreat backward, holding my heart because it's pounding. I grab my knife but he's quick.

I walk over to the keg and am intercepted by Mackenzie who is wearing the most outrageous neon pink bikini top with triangles that are at least 3 sizes too small for her boobs. “Hi Monroe!” “Hello.” “You know, I bet you think you’re so special. Everyone around here acts like you shit rainbows but I hope you’re aware that it won’t last. You’re shiny and new and mysterious, but that’ll go away and I’ll still be at the top of the food chain.” I walk around her and start filling my cup from the keg and say, “Alright, Mackenzie. Whatever helps you sleep at night.” “I bet you haven’t slept with him yet have you?”

Lucius's POV "Have you ever done business with a certain Fred McKenzie before?" Diane asked as the Bentley parked in her grandparents' driveway. She had been quiet ever since she picked her up. She barely pointed out landmarks and a few other spots —but she said nothing else until now. "Who is Fred McKenzie?" I knew the name was her family name but I couldn't place a finger on who he was or why I should know him. She blinked and turned her eyes to the house laying ahead.
