I tried to open the huge mansion’s door, but it was locked, so I forced the doorknob down, breaking it and letting myself in. My impatient feet followed her smell and it took me upstairs to a long hall, where I came across to the bearer of the delicious scent. All the adrenaline in my blood and the flaring instinct guiding me was replaced by shock, and even Knight’s eyes snapped open and his ears stirred in my mind. “You are my mate,” I almost growled, looking at the male dragon in front of me. My eyes didn’t recognize his eyes, and I wasn’t attracted to him, not at all, yet the smell was unmistakable. Lavender and Amber.

She swayed, overwhelmed by the sudden influx of sensations—her newly awakened dragon nature responding to each male in ways her human mind couldn't process.

“You are the fiercest, most brilliant, most infuriating woman I’ve ever known. And I love you more than anything in this world. Will you marry me?” My hands flew to my mouth. I looked around at the stunned faces, at Aria who looked like she might combust. Then back to Darius. “Yes,” I whispered, and then louder, “Yes, I’ll marry you.” Cheers erupted. Some gasped. Some looked furious but I didn’t care. Darius slipped the ring onto my finger, stood, and pulled me into his arms. Our lips met in a kiss. I was now Aurora, the future Luna of Lunaris Dominion.

“It feels like a part of me is missing, and I don’t know how to fix it.” Ellara stopped pacing and turned to face Zoe. “Awakening a dormant nature, particularly one tied to something as complex as vampirism, is no small feat. It requires a catalyst - something to ignite that aspect of your soul. And it must be done carefully. Vampiric energy is deeply tied to blood, life force, and often the darkness within one’s own heart. Awakening it too abruptly could destabilize you entirely.” Zoe swallowed hard, the weight of Ellara’s words sinking in. “So, what can I do? How can I awaken it safely?”

My mood was a murderous tempest, and Lorthian's words kept replaying through my fucking mind. I was waiting for a prophecy that might never come to pass. The girl with the flaming red hair, the fateweaver, my destined mate. And our bond was the only key to unlocking my full potential. Tragic. My fist tightened around my dripping shirt, but immediately slackened when that scent hit me. I turned around so fast, that my vision was a blur until it sharply focused on the lithe, pale body curled on one of the fur couches. Naida.

She was determined to tell the story in chronological order and jumping ahead to admit Jim was a vampire just wouldn’t do. Lizzy showed great interest when Chloe told of Tristan’s dreaming of her and how he went so far as to profess loving her. She asked quite a few questions about the atmosphere and conditions of inner-earth, as well as the occupants. Discovering that Tristan’s people were able to turn into dragons didn’t seem to faze her in the least. In fact, it pleased her.

He kisses me on the temple with passion, squeezes me tight and I relax, rest assured that he means it because I know it’s true. AUTHORS NOTE - This is the End of Awakening but not the end of the Series. I do have more books related to this planned but this will be the last from Alora's story.
