He turns and looks at me with excitement in his eyes. “I understand your father found a golden egg. A queen egg, Skylar. Do you know how incredible this is?” he asks. I smile and nod, turning away from him toward where my father and his men are coming in on horseback. My stomach sinks. Only a queen dragon can produce a queen egg. If this is true, it means that my father has not only found a very rare egg, but it also means that the queen and potentially the entire Thunder of dragons will be raining fury down on our kingdom soon.

Even after eating a full meal, I have a fluttery empty feeling in my stomach. During my childhood, I heard stories of dragon eggs. There were several eggs in gestation at the time. I was told I couldn't go near them because dragons are unpredictable and quite possessive of their young. I was curious but young, and I spent little time thinking of procreation and all it entails. It caveated, and I hastily adhered to it warning. A sigh of relief escaped from my lips as I settled on it back with the cool air slapping against my hair. Our plan right now was to get a dinosaur’s egg since it looked identical to that of a dragon. Andromeda said he knows where a dinosaur reside. It isn’t going to be a soft fight, it had told me to expect a fierce battle. No creature would want an enemy to come grab their offspring for a selfish reason, I understood that aspect tho. “Does this means that the other group of pups didn’t get a hold of your eggs?” I asked instinctively.

"Ah! Is the golden egg about to hatch?" Someone in the crowd shouted. Everyone turned to watch as cracks spread across the golden egg, which had been bathed in spiritual energy. "Witnessing a golden dragon hatch is an honor you should all treasure," Drakon said. He stood beside the egg, impatient with how slowly it was cracking. He pushed more spiritual energy into it. The shell split open. A blinding golden light flooded the entire hall. Everyone held their breath, mesmerized. The last pieces of shell fell away.
