A beam of light shot from the nest, straight up into the night. We watched, awestruck, as the angel unfurled his pure white wings. They shot from his body in a motion so fast I almost didn’t see it, snapping open as his bright blue eyes scanned the ground. His eyes practically glowed, a bright sapphire set in his angular face.
