I order and watch the boys run back towards the building as fast as they can. I watch with concern as the young boy they were picking on sniffs and works to pick up pieces of his sketchbook. I bend down and help him pick up the remaining pieces before they’re carried off by the wind. I look at one of the pieces of paper and can’t contain the awe on my face as I take in the amazing sketch before me. It’s this incredible real-life style drawing of a sirna with a vibrant red tail surrounded by all the elements. It takes me a second to recognise the likeness, but this is a sketch of the God Ezillus as a sirna! This might be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. “You drew this?” I ask in astonishment

Of course, the ancient would have a hidden horror book in his personal damn throne in his personal damn vault! It was clear that the writing wasn’t normal ink and it had to be some kind of tattoo. I studied the first page, which seemed to be some kind of drawing of a tree. The ink had faded in some places, but I could still make out the tree. The next page was a very bad drawing of what seemed to be a witch and I could only imagine the circular image to be a cauldron of sorts! That was it! This was what we had been looking for all this time! I quickly paged to the next page. It was covered in symbols I had never seen before which I could only guess was the spell … Could this be the unlinking

In the end, I think they turned out great. Not that I knew what the others were for but there was also a frog on a log, a humming bird and a fat Cardinal. The very last one I was drawing was for Arlo. He got those picture for us, or more for me. It was of a wolf. It’s head was downward with his teeth showing. The hair was standing straight up with a human skull under it’s paw. There wasn’t any flesh on it, just the bones. Originally, I was going to make it a dead rabbit or something but this seemed appropriate. Keeping this one black and white, kept some of the mystery alive. “Charlotte??” Waylon yelled as he was coming in.

Leo cheered, skidding to a halt beside my chair and thrusting the paper right into my lap. I looked down at the drawing, a soft, involuntary smile breaking across my face. It was drawn in bold, vibrant colors. In the center was a stone castle with blue flags on the turrets. Standing in the grass out front were three stick-figure people holding hands. On the left was a figure with black hair in a red dress labeled Mommy. On the right was a broad figure colored in black crayon labeled Mr. Tyson. And right between them, holding both of their hands with a yellow smiley face, was a smaller figure labeled Leo.

He nodded. Naeun sat next to his bed and brought out her coloring pens. She started doodling everywhere then exposed her magic wand, pretending to be Hermione from Harry Potter. Hana had her hooked up in the story, and two had been playing Hermione since. ‘Abracadabra.” whiffing the band in the air. “Heal my Oppa,” she mused. “Thank you, Naeun,” he reached out and planted a kiss on his forehead.

There, hidden behind a curtain of weeping carbon-fiber vines, was a small, dilapidated shack. "What is this?" I asked. "The only place the grid can't see," Xander said. He pulled back the vines, and I saw a wall covered in jagged, hand-drawn charcoal sketches. I gasped. The sketches weren't of buildings or machines. They were of us. There was a drawing of a man and a woman standing in a mountain of gold; a drawing of a girl with a wooden ring; a drawing of a man with orange eyes holding a woman in the rain.

Bopha squealed pinching Haris lightly on the cheek, "You are going to be a great artist!" "Yes!" Harris laughed, "Don't you like it, sis?" He turned to me with his brown eyes questioning my reaction, "I can draw it better when I am a bigger Haris." "Oh dear." I rubbed my palm on his head, "It's the most beautiful portrait I have ever seen, it is perfect." He threw his arms around me and gave me a big hug before showing us the rest of his drawings. There was one of Me and him, another of Bopha and I, then all of us with Elara, and then the last one was something he shouldn't have drawn but before I could snatch it away, Bopha was faster.

The three headmasters looked at the drawing for a few seconds before Headmaster Harriet grabbed it with one hand, crumpling it along the way, and threw it right on the floor. “What kind of drawing is that? It looks like a pig adorned with bullshit!”

I asked, looking at the coffee machine like it was a holy shrine. He picked up the paper and proudly thrust it into my face. It was a masterpiece of aggressive brown scribbles. "It’s you and Harry, Mummy! He’s covered in poo, and you have poo all over your hands, and I put a peg on your nose for you too! Look, the peg is blue, your favourite!" I stared at the drawing. It was disturbingly accurate. "How... artistic. That’s definitely not going on the fridge." I smoothed his hair down. "What do you want for breakfast, Henry?"

For a little guy, he is way too good. There are all different kinds of drawings that are too neat, I shuffle through them, trying to find one to stick on our fridge in the kitchen. I smile to myself when I come across a picture of him and I then there's Jasmine and even Alex, with and without devil horns— that makes me laugh. I pass by other boyish things, like cars, dragons, dogs, dinosaurs and ninjas, lots and lots of them.
