he asked, holding up a small piece of paper that had been tucked beneath some files on my desk. My heart froze. It was one of James’s drawings—something he had slipped into my handbag one of the mornings before going to boarding school without my noticing. I saw it when I came to the office and have kept it in the top drawer of my desk ever since. A bright, childish scrawl of stick figures, one of which was unmistakably labeled "Mummy."

Everything that inspires me ends up in one of my sketchbooks. On one hand, I'm excited to show my "lovely" boss some of my drawings because I'm proud of what I've put into each of my sketchbooks. On the other hand, I'm terrified of putting myself out there, of being judged. Art isn't for everyone. I started drawing mainly out of boredom. I was in that fangirl phase obsessed with Harry Potter, convinced that soon a owl would fly through my window to deliver my Hogwarts letter. I didn't know how to pass the time, so I decided to try drawing Hedwig, and that's when I discovered I was incredibly good at it.

It was quite good actually. “He’s a little artist in the making.” On the paper was a drawing of a a girl with dark hair, she had been given muscles, and her hair was tied in a ponytail that sat right at the top of her head, much like a unicorn horn which made me chuckle with tears still flowing. Is that really how Freddie viewed me? He saw me as this amazing, powerful superhero?

He apologetically said he would come home early to go out with her in the evening, and Grainne happily agreed. Carwyn was gone, and Grainne and Harry sat in the living room, watching him draw. Grainne watched for a while, then asked curiously, "Harry, what are you drawing?" Harry raised his head, narrowed his eyes and smiled, "Mom, don't peek!" After saying that, he took the picture and stepped aside, covering it with his hand to prevent Grainne from seeing. Hmm, this kid, dare not let me see, must be drawing something terrible. As she was thinking, Grainne suddenly heard the doorbell ring.

Her hair complimented her white cardigan and her grey skirt was only visible because of the edge of the fabric that peeked from the black chair. In front of her was an open purse that contained stationeries. So I made a rough guess... She must be a student. A college one at most. I guess feeling someone's eyes on her, she turned her head to me and I immediately diverted my eyes to the pot flower plant that was hanging above her head. If you looked closely, you would notice the drawings on the pots. The one I was looking at presently was the drawing of a dragon with a red pearl in it's mouth. It was really cute and a fine design.

I always lock it before leaving the premises. “But I… Did I…” Brushing it off, I pull the mini door open, and yelp when a heap of papers rains on me as if waiting for me to open it all along. I stay still for a moment, just blinking at the drawings. They’re ugly exaggerated images of me; big head, messy hair, thin legs… I’m as tiny as a doll, while a big guy towers over me, his pants down, and I’m choking on his… What?! My heart drops.

"The what?" Aiden proudly lifted the parchment, presenting it with a triumphant flourish. It was a masterpiece of terrible stick figures. There was a tall, blocky man with a jagged golden crown, a woman wearing an oversized silver tiara, a small blob representing a little boy, a giant black dog with six legs, a glowing stick figure surrounded by yellow loops, and a final girl drawn with aggressively angry V-shaped eyebrows. Kael let out a long, dry sigh. "Let me guess. The one with the furious eyebrows is your long-lost aunt?"

"The one with the big pictures of the lions and the furry bears." "I will get it for you right now, sweetie," I said, reaching up to pull the bright green book from the shelf. I handed it to her, and she immediately gripped the edges, pulling it close to her chest. "What about you, Maple?" I asked, turning to his side of the sofa. Maple set his juice cup carefully on the side table. He pointed his finger toward the small wooden drawer under the television. "I want my big drawing papers. The ones with my dragon pictures."

He was not sure whether the plan to exorcize the witchcraft from her aunt would work. The hut was as vacant as they had left it on their previous visit. But there was a new development; the floor was as black as ebony and there were drawings resembling a snake on the walls. Okayo stared at the drawings with suspicion. He had never seen them on the dunged walls before and he wondered what they stood for.

All I knew was that I dozed off into a very deep sleep. HEAVEN. My eyes opened slowly and I glanced around the little building. It looked so strange and childish, with ugly drawings on the wall. Different colors were plastered everywhere with drawings of shape and funny looking crystal balls. One actually piqued my interest, a drawing that looked like a man on the throne with the moon above his head. Below him were dead bodies and a sword in his hands. I raised my body at once and took a look at the crooked drawing. The head of the man has a symbol of the moon and I gasped.
