This was just what she needed but as she closed her eyes she could have sworn she saw someone staring back at her from the library corner of their room. Her eyes turned completely black. “You shouldn’t have come here.” Clover froze. The child transformed. It wasn’t Elara. It was the Void. Kael pulled Clover backward. “Don’t touch it!” The creature smiled. “Too late.” Black chains erupted from the ground. They wrapped around Clover’s legs. Kael slashed at them. They reformed immediately.

My dreams come in waves every night, but they are more vivid tonight. I can feel another place, another world, a place where I belong, where I am not an outsider.
