I’d file legitimate taxes and date a man who drives a Honda and thinks rough sex means leaving the lights on. I would be free. I would be safe. I would be bored out of my fucking mind. My eyes snap open and I stare at the phone again. The black screen reflects my distorted face. Freedom involves running. It involves hiding. It involves shrinking myself down until I fit into a box small enough that no one notices me. It means being a nobody. Not Eve Larson, recently graduated Business major with stars in her eyes. They also leave voluntarily when I have no enough reason to silence them.
