As badly as I had felt at first for bringing her shame, now all I felt for her was hatred. I was going crazy staring at these same four walls with nothing to occupy my time except my worrying thoughts about my sister. At night, I would have dreams about her. You were screaming and thrashing around like crazy." I hesitated, unsure if I wanted to share. But something about my sister's expression put me at ease. "It was just a weird dream," I said. "I don't know, it felt so real." My sister leaned in closer. I raised my eyes again, still wary of my sister's intentions. "Look, I don't want to talk to you right now. You're always against me, and I don't want you in my room."

And before you ask, yes—I know it’s embarrassing to admit that as a fully functional, employed adult woman, my weeks have been plagued with these unholy, vivid, explicit dreams about a stranger I’ve never met. Besides, Aunt Sienna said dreams manifest our strongest desires. So I thought, maybe I keep seeing her because I’ve always wanted a sibling,” she said in a very low voice, that didn’t seem like hers. I became speechless, I didn’t know what to say.
