FOUR SHADES OF DREY
I stood there, staring at the blurred reflections of streetlights in the glass ahead of me, waiting for the heavy sound of his shoes on the floorboards.
I waited for him to grab my arm, or call my name.
"Arthur! Good to see you, mate," Dreylen’s voice drifted over from the middle of the room. It sounded relaxed. Easy. "I only came by to make sure you didn't hang my paintings sideways again."
An older man laughed, a loud, booming sound that bounced off the high ceiling.
"That happened one time, Dreylen!"
I didn't turn my head around, but I shifted my eyes slightly to look at the reflection in a dark painting frame to my left.
