P E R S E U S I'm drowning. I can't move, I can't see anything but darkness as the water around me turns thick and clouded. A heavy surge of pain rushes through my bones, sharp and unrelenting. The arrows were poisoned—I can feel the venom spreading through my veins, burning like acid, leaving me paralyzed and weak. I struggle to hold back a groan as water forces its way into my nostrils, stinging the back of my head with a piercing ache. I have to get back to Eleanor. I can't die like this. Not here. Not now.

However, the onlookers, disgusted by her previous actions, simply stood by the poolside with their arms crossed, watching the spectacle unfold. Cough, cough... "Help... help me... cough... I can’t swim... ugh… save me…!" Fear and dread gripped her heart mercilessly. She flailed her arms, sobbing uncontrollably, while the looming threat of death pressed down on her. A suffocating sensation wrapped around her throat as if it were being choked. She struggled frantically, but her body soon sank beneath the water’s surface, unable to rise again. "Enough! You’ve had your fun watching. Get her out of there before she drowns!"

She was drowning. Water rushed into her mouth, chocking her and her loud cries. Tears run down her cheeks, washing off with the current that pushes and pulls. She was going to drown if she didn't do something. She needed help. She tried kicking, frantically shaking her hands and pulling herself to the surface but she kept getting pulled right back down. As the water swallowed her head whole her chest tightened, water filling her lungs and leaving room for her to utter one more word, "D-darius"

Claudine's eyes met Mary's, sharing a moment of profound sorrow. Denzel wrapped his arm around Claudine, holding her close. As Mary's words faded, the air seemed to vibrate with unspoken grief. Suddenly, Claudine's head tilted back, and a mournful howl erupted from her throat. Denzel joined, his voice blending with hers. Kris, Jacob, Ronald, and the others followed, their howls weaving together in a haunting tapestry of sorrow. Mary added her voice, a soft, melancholic wail. The forest echoed with their collective lament, a chilling, beautiful dirge that conveyed the depth of their loss.

She stumbles backward, the edge of the dock vanishing under her feet. She reaches out blindly,air. Water rushes up to meet her. Cold.,black. She plunges beneath the surface, the impact knocking the air from her lungs. Sound disappears. Light disappears. Pain explodes through her ribs. Her dress tangles around her legs, dragging her down, heavier with every second. She tries to scream. Water floods her mouth instead. Her thoughts scatter in billion pieces Alex. Dad. Don’t die. Hands brush her ankle. Or maybe it’s the current.

I giggled and sank into the tidal wave of his love. The night stretched long, and so would our happiness. Not long after, I became pregnant. When Caleb and I visited our new villa, we saw Thomas and Juliet tending flowers in the park. Their old clothes were streaked with dirt. Adrian was nearby, drunk in broad daylight, with a crying baby beside him. Under the scorching sun, their former pride had long since vanished. Seeing me, they hastily pulled on their masks and hurried away with Adrian. Their aging figures were the very picture of desolation.

It only takes and takes until there’s nothing left. The cold water surrounded me, pulling me under. I couldn’t move, and my consciousness was fading. I tried to look for Daisy, but the darkness swallowed everything. She could have fallen anywhere. And from what I saw, I doubted she survived, the car had hit her hard. Ah… so this was how I was going to die. Drowning alone, with no one by my side. I didn’t pity myself. But I pitied the ones who actually cared about me. Theodore, his family….. Xander.

Despair... It was akin to an ocean. Eleanor drowned in it. She sat on the shores of the beach. Watching as people flowed, she kept hugging her knees in silence. She was there but she wasn't. If one saw her like this, they would think she was doing fine. But, far from it. She was struggling to swim against the raging currents of the ocean of sadness... to not sink. The way the tides were against her, Eleanor wished she could give up. To give up and let herself drown completely. Maybe it would lessen her heartache.

Opening it wide would just flood the room more and drown me faster. "Fuck! I'm too short for this shit!" I cursed, suddenly hating my height. I stood on tiptoes, straining to reach the sill. But the duffel weighed a ton now, pulling me down. The water hit my breasts, icy fingers clawing higher, soaking the photos and documents inside. I hoisted the bag onto my head, balancing it like a crown of regrets, my arms shaking. This was it, I thought, tears mixing with the spray. Drowning without justice. Without my kids. Jacob would never know I tried. I’d never take back my father's pack or ever get revenge on Dominic for hurting me and taking my children away. I would die a failure.

Just like it is in my regular life. My heart and soul felt void from Haiden’s rejection. I looked out over the water. The dark depths of the lake are calling to my soul, ready to drown my sorrows away. As tears stream down my face, I take another step further into the water. A siren song seemingly pulling me further. My skin is itching from glue and fur. The water does nothing to absolve the itch and pain I feel. A few more steps and I will be able to drown my sorrows and my pitiful self into the watery abyss that awaits.
